FREEK KOEKKOEK, 1/5/2006

4.5K GT3 driver for Absolute Motorsport Acelith

After rumors started circulating in 2014 about a Dutch driver named Max Verstappen, who was expected to be a great driver in the future, Freek began following his fellow countryman and developed an interest in Formula 1. He started watching every F1 race and has never missed one since. That same year, Freek also began playing his first racing game, F1 2014, on a PlayStation 3 controller.

Freek remained dedicated to the F1 games, achieving at least a top 6% ranking on every track in the time trials of F1 21, when the F1 games were at their peak. After F1 21, Freek bought his first GT3 racing game, Assetto Corsa Competizione, and enjoyed it even more than the F1 games.

His excitement grew, and Freek decided to invest in professional sim racing gear. He began following the DTM and GT World Challenge, and later visited Zandvoort to see the cars up close. He realized he wanted to take his passion more seriously. He sought out real competition and started racing on Lowfuelmotorsport. However, Freek couldn’t stop thinking about one thing: every real-life racer, including Max Verstappen, used the expensive iRacing platform because it was the most realistic and therefore the best simulator. Though he was initially worried that iRacing might be a waste of money, in December 2023, he decided it was time to join the simulator with the best drivers, a decision he now believes was the right one.

One year later, Freek has achieved several wins and podium finishes and frequently competes in the top split of the IMSA and GT3 series, racing at the highest level of iRacing and learning from the best. He has also participated in his first league races and will compete in two championships starting this January: the ARA Porsche Cup and the ARL GT3 Trophy. Additionally, he will race in his first iRacing endurance event: the 24 Hours of Daytona. This is possible because Freek was invited to join the top Italian team, Absolute Motorsport Acelith, and will now race under their banner, a fact he is extremely proud of.

Freek isn’t stopping here. In 2025, he plans to race more, participate in more events and championships, and work towards his 2025 goal: to reach a 5k iRating and ultimately achieve a strong result in a top split of a major iRacing event.
